Tonight we finished our Magic Dub Carpet Ride started last week, then moved on to new stuff from Arrogalla:http://www.arrogalla.org, Michael Rose, the Skatalites, the Gladiators (from Studio One archive), and more. Finally, one hour of the show was filled with the Beat Pharmacy Dub Mix — prepared by Brendan Moeller for our good pal TurnTableTerrorist at Echo Beach (WLUW-FM) in Chicago.
What a treat to have Ellen in the studio this morning, waking up early with us and branching out from the terrific music she brings us on Womenfolk:node/123 to play some boys with me! Thanks to everyone who became members during the ‘drive, and thanks for checking out the playlist. Some new records played this morning came from Robert Pollard, Becky Schlegel, and Terry Eason.
Tonight Dr. StrangeDub and DJ Baby Swiss embarked on a Magic Dub Carpet Ride from Cairo to Casablanca…from New Delhi to Morocco and Tunisia. A definite departure for the doctors of dub, as we left Jamaica behind for a week (for the most part) and put together a Middle Eastern musical journey.
Johnny D from Radio Antilles:http://www.kfai.org/node/99 joined us this morning for a pledge drive edition of the show. Thanks to the wonderful people who supported community radio early in the morning—you are the best! We heard new records from the Chicago Afrobeat Project, Raul Malo, Cadillac Kolstad, and the Patterson Hood-produced new one from Bettye LaVette, The Scene of the Crime. One more pledge drive show left, and more fun music up my sleeves! Look at what else we heard…
