You may make a pledge via this website. If you weave around, you'll find the link. Tell them (them who track this stuff) you heard about it on Freewheelin'. Yada Yada.
Angie Pykonen (of KFAI's In Your Ear) and I were joined by a couple of guests this afternoon:
Ron Thums (formerly of the great, sorely missed, Friday night show "Radio Rumpus Room"), stopped in to participate in the hijinx and keep the show focused in the right direction, whatever that means.
Also, Tea Simpson of L'Assassins stopped by. Freewheelin' is sponsoring the L'Assassins Record Release & Pajama Party, Saturday night at Lee's. Reckless Ones, Violent Shifter & DJ Travis will also be perfoming.
Here's the poop, directly from the event facebook page:
KFAI's Freewheelin' presents the L'Assassins Record Release, Video Premiere, and Pajama Party at Lee's Liquor Lounge. The lasses will be releasing their self-titled CD EP and 7PM-Go/Backseat Bomp vinyl 7-inch. The event is also the debut screening of L'Assassins' "Gonna' Git That Man" music video. The '60s-camp, Martian-invasion themed video is written and directed by Tyler Jensen, whom the band met via casting of a film short from his herculean "30 Films in 30 Days" project, this past summer.
The release party also features Reckless Ones, the modern-rockabilly powerhouse, who have been making waves nationally, as well as internationally, this past year. The evening opens with psychobilly garage rockers, The Violent Shifters; and DJ about town, Travis Ramin will be spinning tunes throughout the night.
Lyn-Lake's vintage clothing store, Tatters, will be on hand to pajama-fit those not-in-the-know arriving in street clothes, and to award prizes for "best PJ's" and "most glamorous lingerie."
Anyway, Tea is a cool lady and we were thrilled she could stop in. Unfortunately, with all the pledge drive hoopla, we couldn't give her as much time as we would like. We did manage to chat a bit, play a couple of L'Assassins and Reckless Ones songs, and have a few giggles. Hopefully, she and her bandmates will be back on the show sometime soon.
Thanks to all of you who made a pledge to Freewheelin'. I love ya'.
