North America Super Stars: Midnimo Residency Finale Concert – at the Cedar

Dalmar Yare and Hodan Abdirahman
Date:
Saturday, February 14, 2015 - 8:00pm

KFAI proudly sponsors North American Super Stars at the Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, February 14, in their Midnimo residency finale concert.

Midnimo is a program of The Cedar and Augsburg College that builds knowledge and understanding of Somali Muslim culture through music. Midnimo consists of week-long residencies with Somali artists from around the world that include public concert performances, workshops, and activities in the classroom and the community for Somali and non-Somali audiences.

NORTH AMERICA SUPER STARS is a collective of Somali artists that perform in various configurations around the Twin Cities and beyond.

The group includes vocalists Dalmar Yare and Hodan Abdirahman, who first worked with The Cedar and Augsburg College for the Cedar Avenue Fire Benefit in January 2014. For this residency finale concert concluding a week of citywide performances, workshops and showcases, they will be joined by two other Super Stars: Mohamed Alta (who performed during Global Roots Festival 2014) and Iskalaji.

They will also be accompanied by Bob's Band (Bob Stacke, Augsburg College), featuring special guests Abdulwahab Nagi (keyboards, Dur-Dur Band) and Harbi (percussion, Dur-Dur Band).

Adding to the occasion – we'll also be celebrating Valentine's Day!
