The masters of Turkish psychedelic music, BABA ZULA band are coming to Minneapolis on Sunday, November 1st

By mixing oriental instruments such as darbuka, electric saz, and spoons with electronics and modern sounds, BaBa ZuLa creates a sound all their own called Istanbul Psychedelia.Their shamanic ritual like performances are a mixture of disciplines of art, often featuring belly dancers, elaborate costumes, poetry, theatre and live drawing, delivering viewers a tantalizing audio-visual feast.

BaBa ZuLa shares their legacy with us through their music, a music born out of Istanbul. BaBa ZuLa's founding members are Levent Akman on spoons, percussions, machines; Murat Ertel on saz and other stringed instruments, vocals, oscillators, theremin; Özgür Çakırlar on darbuka and percussion; and Periklis Tsoukalas on electric oud.

Opening the evening with "On the Way to Uskudar"  performing music from Anatolia and the Balkan regions. The band includes Yigitcan Eryaman (Guitar, Vocals, Darbuka), Nickolai Kolarov (Cello) and Stephen Spaise (Darbuka, Davul)
